Project Encore
Downtown Columbus is home to Indiana’s oldest remaining theater. The historic Crump has been the subject of several conversations and studies about its potential to play a key role in our downtown revitalization, including the recently completed Columbus Downtown 2030 Strategic Plan which identified the Crump as a near-term catalyst site (0-2 years).
This unifying demand from across our community for another ‘act’ or performance of the Crump Theatre itself, makes it appropriate to call this phase of the project an “Encore”.
“Revitalizing the Crump Theatre is an opportunity to integrate design with a collaborative process, celebrating its history while expanding its capacity to serve contemporary performance and community needs. Through a thoughtful, understated expansion, we extend the theater’s experience beyond its walls, creating a flexible, connected environment that enhances the function of the original theater, cultivates a shared experience, and ensures its future.”
