Adaptive Operations
“With our approach to thinking about the next phase and expansion of the Crump Theater, we wanted to build on its rich layers of history while looking to the future. We propose a facade extension that uses a similar design language, but translates it with a folded, perforated metal onto which we've superimposed the historic buildings that used to stand to the east. Our goal with thinking about the expansion was to pull the program away from that wall in order to maintain the many traces of Columbus' history that have been etched upon it, yet still leave ample space for a new outdoor performance and gathering space. ”
